New Surrey off spinner Gareth Batty made his Test Match debut in Bangladesh and has spoken to Surrey TV about the unique challenges the country will offer to Alistair Cook's England side when they play the first Test Match tomorrow.
Batty made his Test Match debut six and a half years ago in Dhakar taking 1/43 and 1/65 as England - including three then Surrey players in Mark Butcher, Graham Thorpe and Rikki Clarke - swept to a seven wicket victory behind big scores from Marcus Trescothick and Michael Vaughan.

Pre-Season is Underway!

With now under a month to go until the first ball is bowled in Surrey’s first competitive game of the season, the Surrey squad have reported back to the Brit Oval for the start of official pre-season training.
As those who have followed this website over the winter will know, Rory Hamilton-Brown’s side have not exactly been slacking between October and March with a series of punishing Hell Friday exercises set by Ian Salisbury and regular net practices being held throughout.

The 40 over competiton has been enhanced for the 2010 season as teams will play six matches home and away.
The top teams in each pool and the best 2nd place team will go forward to a semi final and the winners of that will play the final at Lords at the end of September.

If play is restricted to 19.5 overs or less due to adverse weather conditions on the day for which your ticket is valid and no result is achieved, those who have purchased a ticket in advance will be automatically refunded the face value of the ticket.
Please do not return your tickets to the Ticket Office; the relevant amount will automatically be credited back to the credit/debit card, used for the purchase of the tickets.
Those who have purchased a ticket on the day should retain the ticket so that it can be exchanged on another day within either the LV County Championship or Friends Provident Trophy during the 2009 or 2010 seasons.

One Month to Go!

Although it may still seem a little chilly outside – it is now officially one month until Surrey play their first competitive fixture of the 2010 season.
Whilst new captain Rory Hamilton-Brown will first lead out a Surrey side in the Emirates Twenty20 tournament in Dubai on Friday March 19th, the first steps he takes onto the Brit Oval will be shortly before 11am on Friday April 9th when he strides out to toss up with his Derbyshire compatriot Chris Rogers ahead of the LV= County Championship Division Two opener.

Surrey Sign Rao Iftikhar as Early Season Cover

Surrey County Cricket Club can today announce the signing of Pakistani seam bowler Rao Iftikhar Anjum as early season cover for Piyush Chawla.
Rao Iftikhar, 29, is an experienced pace bowler who has played regular limited overs cricket for Pakistan in recent years and currently holds a very impressive first-class average of 23.87 with 388 victims from 96 games at a strike rate of 44.8, in line with the best bowlers in the world.

Surrey TV Raising Funds for Surrey Cricket Foundation and Sport Relief

Surrey Cricket are going on the road on Saturday 20th March, visiting all 45 ‘Focus Clubs’ in 24 hours to raise money for the Surrey Cricket Foundation and Sport Relief.
Surrey TV and BBC London’s Mark Church and First Team Analyst Steven Rudkin will travel 239 miles throughout the length and breadth of the county, recording a video and collecting a Club cap at each ground they visit.
Early in the day they will be greeted by England and Surrey legend and Surrey Cricket Foundation patron Alec Stewart, who will attend Ashtead CC at 10am on Saturday March 20th to cheer on the boys and help promote their efforts.
