Thorpe to blog about Lions
Thorpe to blog about Lions
5 February 2010
Surrey’s batting coach Graham Thorpe will leave for Dubai this weekend to begin his secondment to the England Lions, who will play a series of matches in the Middle East in the next few weeks.
Whilst he is out there, working with the next batch of England Internationals – including new Surrey wicket keeper Steven Davies – Thorpey will be sending back regular blogs to the official Surrey website.
Coaching a squad that includes batsmen like Ian Bell, Michael Carberry, the IPL bound Michael Lumb and young talent James Taylor – who hit a memorable double century at the Brit Oval last summer – will be a superb experience for Thorpey and is sure to benefit Surrey in the months and years to come.
The Lions kick of their match action with a series of Twenty20 games against the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan A and the full England side before taking on Pakistan A in three fifty over games at the DSC Stadium in Dubai on February 22, 24, and 26.
As well as his extensive International experience and extraordinary temperament, Thorpe is renowned throughout the game for his candour and honesty, so expect an interesting read when the articles start next week.
