Shaw and Rainford Brent picked for England

Surrey stars Nicky Shaw and Ebony Rainford-Brent have been selected for the England Women’s side to tour the West Indies in November this year.
The two players, who were both part of England’s success in the World Cup, ICC World Twenty20 and the Ashes over the past year, have endured a disappointing season with Surrey this year but will hoping to return to winning ways back in England colours.
Consistent performances over the past nine months have proved beyond all doubt that England are currently the leading side in the world and they will hope to prove that point against the West Indies, despite being without star batter Claire Taylor and Sussex wicket keeper Sarah Taylor.
The England Women will play the West Indies in three fifty over ODIs and three Twenty20 matches in St. Kitts from October 31st to November 14th. It is the ideal preparation for their matches in the ICC World Twenty20 group stage, which will take place on the island in April and May 2010.
England Women’s Head Coach, Mark Lane – formerly a coach at Surrey – said: “This year has been incredible for the England Women’s team.
“After two ICC global events and the Ashes they have proved that they are unarguably the best team in the world in all formats of the game. My job now is to start planning for the 2013 World Cup in India and this trip to the West Indies is the first stage of that four-year process.”
