Ramps Speaks Out On His Future

13 October 2009

Mark Ramprakash has hinted at a future that could lie beyond the batting crease in the final part of his recent interview with Surrey TV.

In the last part of the major interview, as well as addressing the historic day at Headingley last August when he joined the legendary Club of batsmen that had scored 100 first-class centuries, Ramprakash speaks about what fascinates many cricket followers across the country – his continued motivation.

“People often ask me about my motivation and what keeps me ticking”, he told Mark Church, adding: “I’ve always enjoyed the game and the challenge for me has always been the battle between the batsman and the bowler.

“I think you have to love being out in the middle and the biggest satisfaction for me is to come off and get the credit from my team mates. You can’t beat that feeling.”

Ramps also addresses his ongoing situation at the Club, where he has two years of his current contract left to run saying: “I would love to have domestic success again with Surrey. Right now things are difficult and I don’t know what is around the corner with the team.”

However, the effervescent 40-year-old showed no signs of slowing down when he added: “I enjoy passing on my experience and coaching might be something I would look to do in the future if the right opportunity presented itself.”
