Jordan Brought Back for Final Four Day of the Season
22 September 2009
All-rounder Chris Jordan’s recent match winning performance in the Second XI Championship has seen him recalled for Surrey’s final LV Championship game of the season.
Jordan, 20, scored 135 at Old Trafford last week as Surrey secured the Second XI crown with a winning draw over Lancashire. He also bowled very well over 20 pacy overs, showing excellent application and consistency and was extremely unlucky not to take a wicket.
The former Dulwich College pupil is joined in the squad by seamer Richard Logan, who made his Surrey debut in the Club’s last match, a NatWest Pro40 encounter with Warwickshire and showed enough in his performance to cause Professional Cricket Manager Chris Adams to give him an outing in the LV Championship.
Logan and Jordan are replacing fellow quick bowlers Alex Tudor and Jimmy Anyon in the Surrey side, which also contains in form wicket keeper batsman Jonathan Batty, who scored 110 against Northamptonshire and added another 70 in the Second XI Championship final.

Speaking to Surrey TV before the game, Chris Adams said: “We really want to finish this summer on a high. This game is a real test of our character and our resolve and one I definitely want to win.
“It is also a further opportunity for those players who have perhaps been thrown in at the deep end to show what they are about.”
Speaking about last week’s Second XI Championship win, Adams added: “It is a magnificent achievement from the Club at this stage to win that competition and many of the lads who are now in the first team have played their parts earlier in the season, which is why they are where they are now.”
