Brown Looking Forward to Trinidad Trip
Brown Looking Forward to Trinidad Trip
12 January 2010
Opening batsman Michael Brown is shortly off to Trinidad to polish up the skills he has been working on this winter and take the chance to enjoy some much needed sun on his back!
Browny will be turning out for Clico Preysal Sports Club – a former haunt of Mark Ramprakash – for a three week period from January 20th until February 8th and is looking forward to getting out in the middle with a bat in his hand.
“[Over the winter] you get bowlers bowling in the nets and you work technically for a couple of months and get a feel for how you’re playing”, he said. “But there’s nothing like the real test against bowlers in a match situation. That gives you not only some feedback on whether it works or whether it doesn’t work but can also relieve a bit of the monotony of being in an indoor school and turning up and doing your fitness and training – it just gives you a chance to put everything into practice.”
Brown is also looking forward to experiencing some of the cultural life that Trinidad is famed more and is relishing the opportunity to take a winter tour away from the more normal haunts of Australia, South Africa and India.
“Hopefully I can contribute in more ways than just how many runs I try and score”, he added. “I’m sure they’ve got quite a few young players and I may be involved in a bit of coaching. It’s good to meet different cultures as well, the West Indians are all very very laid back as we know and I’m probably not so laid back, so it might help my cricket to just go there and play with a bit more of a free spirit than perhaps thinking about things as much as I sometimes to do.”
