2010 Fixture List Confirmed

19 November 2009

Surrey will kick off their 2010 LV County Championship campaign at the Brit Oval against Derbyshire on Friday April 9th, it was announced today.

Derbyshire’s visit comes after a pre-season match against Cambridge University at Fenners and the month will then continue with a trip to Hove to play recently relegated Sussex and a home game against Worcestershire before the Brown Caps make their debut in the newly formed ECB 40 League, playing Lancashire – potentially featuring superstar all-rounder Andrew Flintoff – on Sunday April 25th.

After welcoming touring side Bangladesh to the Brit Oval for a three day friendly starting on Sunday May 9th and cross river rivals Middlesex for the first London Derby of the season starting on Monday May 17th, Surrey will start the Friends Provident T20 on Tuesday June 8th with a clash against Gloucestershire Gladiators before switching on the floodlights for a match against the Essex Eagles two days later.

The competition will continue throughout June and July – taking a brief break for an away trip to play Derbyshire at the Chesterfield Festival starting on Monday June 28th – before returning for the six final fixtures, three of which will be at the Brit Oval and three on the road.

July ends with a home game against Northamptonshire, a potential Friends Provident T20 quarter final and the second four day London Derby of the season, due to be held at Lord’s starting on Thursday July 29th.

As well as hosting the third npower Test Match between England and Pakistan from Wednesday 18th to Sunday 22nd, August will see the first floodlit ECB 40 League game at the Brit Oval, due to be contested between the Brown Caps and the Glamorgan Dragons on Wednesday August 4th.

If successful, the Friends Provident Twenty20 Finals Day will be held at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday August 14th with Surrey due to end the month on the road, visiting the newly formed ECB Recreational XI, Leicestershire and Somerset in different competitions.

After a second floodlit game in the ECB 40 League, against Worcestershire on Wednesday September 1st, the final LV County Championship game at the Brit Oval will see Surrey play Glamorgan, starting on Tuesday September 7th. The final confirmed fixture of the season is a four day encounter with Gloucestershire at Bristol starting on Monday September 13th before the new season finale, the ECB 40 League Final at Lord’s, on Saturday September 18th.

Details of the games marked as TBC will be confirmed as soon as possible, as will details of the Surrey Cricket Festival programme.
