Academy & Performance

The work of Surrey Cricket’s Performance Department is about excellence. Its primary focus is to promote the highest quality of performance on an individual and team basis in order to develop cricketers to play for Surrey and England.

The Performance Department is responsible for all non-professional representative cricket within the county. Our programmes identify talented cricketers within our Performance Courses, who then move in to District Cricket. The most talented of these cricketers progress into the County Age Group programme and from there into the Emerging Players Programme. A small number of individuals are then selected into the pinnacle of non-professional representative cricket within the county, which is the Pemberton Greenish Surrey Cricket Academy.

The Performance Department consists of Gareth Townsend (Academy Director); Richard Bedbrook (Performance Manager); David Court (Performance Officer) and Dave Sheppard (Performance Administrator).
